The Bizness: A Global Sound Born from Lockdown Dreams
In the spring of 2021, while the world was still adjusting to the strangeness of pandemic life, an unexpected musical journey was beginning in the most relatable way possible—locked indoors, falling in love, and trying to impress someone special.
For The Bizness, music wasn’t part of some long-planned industry blueprint. It started with a simple, heartfelt gesture. “I started dating my now wife, and she was in a music video,” he recalls. “I wanted to impress her, so I made a few songs on BandLab… and the rest is history.”
But this is far from your typical artist origin story. What started as a romantic gesture turned into a passion project, then a full-blown career—one now infused with the hustle of multiple jobs, tens of thousands of studio hours, and a musical vision bigger than borders.
More Than Hip-Hop: A Genre-Bending Identity
Describing his sound, The Bizness paints a picture that’s as vivid as it is ambitious:
“American Latin Trap Soul. Picture Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, Pharrell, Bad Bunny, Drake, Snoop, and J Balvin. If you combined elements of all of them, I’d be standing there.”
That description isn’t just clever—it’s accurate. His bilingual lyricism and sonic blend of trap, soul, and Latin rhythms stand out in a landscape that often leans heavily into formulas. From Las Vegas to LA to Medellín, Colombia, his music reflects the global pulse of the cultures that shaped him.
His influences span the greatest—Michael Jordan. Michael Jackson. Bob Dylan. Biggie. Snoop. Eminem. Kobe. These aren’t just heroes, they’re icons of excellence, and The Bizness doesn’t shy away from reaching for that level.
Behind the Music: The Grind and the Craft
Creating genre-bending music isn’t easy, especially when you’re working multiple jobs just to keep the dream alive.
“Money was a challenge. Time is another one. Finally, trust. There are a lot of scammers in music… it’s easy to get taken advantage of and then never wanna make music again.”
But The Bizness stuck with it, sharpening his skills and surrounding himself with a team that gets it. “I have an idea for a track and I send similar references to my team—tempo, style, flow, etc. Then we meet, I pick through the sounds, and we lay flows down. Once I find the pocket, we’re in business.”
Most songs take him just a few hours. Others take longer. But every track is built on intention, emotion, and a story.
“I discuss real sh*t, to put it bluntly, but I weave it into a tapestry of storytelling. Everything I make has an inspiration and a story.”
A Co-Sign from a Legend
Of all the career highlights so far, one moment stands out: sitting in a car with Kid Gotti, Westlyfe, and the legendary Kurupt. After hearing The Bizness’s music, Kurupt didn’t just nod his head—he hit repeat..again and again
“He told me I was a superstar and didn’t know it yet. That I had the potential to be bigger than Bad Bunny. I jokingly told him to pass the blunt (we weren’t smoking), but he did, on my life, tell me I was bigger than hip-hop and more global.”
What’s Next: Big Shows, Big Features, Big Vision
The momentum is real. The Bizness will be opening for Larry Coleman 2020 on September 27 in San Diego, and for none other than Jadakiss on November 8 in Las Vegas.
On the music front, his upcoming single "Hood Girl MDE (Medellín Mix)" is dropping September 12, featuring Pharrell and Sunny Laurent, with production from his trusted collaborators Daiz and Valco.
Meanwhile, his manager and A&R, Matt Markoff (pka M80), is actively shopping his unreleased catalog for a distribution deal. With over 15,000 hours in the studio, The Bizness is sitting on a goldmine of global, genre-blending music ready for the world to hear.
The Takeaway: Bigger Than Music
For The Bizness, the goal isn’t just radio play or viral moments. It’s impact.
“I want folks to associate positive thoughts and feelings with my music.”
He’s not just chasing the charts—he’s crafting an experience. One song at a time. One story at a time. One soul at a time.
And whether you catch him performing live in Vegas or spinning something new in Medellín, one thing is clear: The Bizness is not just in the building—he is the building.
